2023 Roundup!
As 2023 comes to an end, we have compiled a little roundup of all of our favourite activities and events from the year! Keep scrolling to find these!

Our favourite activities and events in 2023…
January…
In January we enjoyed an arts and crafts activity where we used paint to create pictures of fireworks we saw on New Year’s Eve! We also looked at some pictures of these before we did the activity to recall the image of a firework.
February…
Garden play! We had lots of fun exploring the garden in the cooler weather where the grass was wet and muddy! It’s important for the little ones to explore the outdoors in different weathers. We got all wrapped up in our cosy snow suits and had lots of fun!
March…
In March, we spent lots of time exploring some new technology resources which helped us learn and develop our sharing skills with one another and encouraged the little ones to take turns with the resources. The technology resources also sparked the little ones’ imagination, they used the phones to pretend to talk to other people including their loved ones at home!
April…
In April we welcomed in lots of new friends and we really enjoyed seeing the little ones being so loving and caring towards the new little ones! We decided to take walks to one of our favourite spots in Inverleith Park and showed our new friends how we safely feed the ducks and swans.
May…
The little ones loved many more walks to the pond in May as there were some new arrivals! The cygnets were of great interest to the little ones and they really enjoyed going to see them regularly. We were able to see the cygnets grow and change over the month!
June…
Garden party! In June we all enjoyed some warm weather which led to us having some garden parties where the little ones brought in their swimming suits and went for a dip in the paddling pool! We loved seeing the little ones so happy and enjoying the water play in the sun!
July…
In July the little ones took part in more water play in the sun, one of our favourite water play set ups was where we played with mini boats and the little ones were challenged to move the boats without their hands. This was a great problem solving activity where the children ended up blowing on the boats to make them move!
August…
Who helps us? In August one of our favourite activities was during our ‘Who helps us’ week. We dressed up as those surrounding us that help us stay safe and well. We then did some role play to represent what these people do! Eg. Doctor, we found the doctors kit and the little ones pretended to check up on their peers.
September…
In September the little ones loved our sensory tuff trays that were made up of rice, shredded paper, cotton balls and tissue paper! We discussed the colours we could see on the tray as well as using our hands to explore the different textures and tried to find words to describe these. The little ones came up with words including; fluffy, soft, hard and tickly!
October…
Happy Halloween! This October we decorated some pumpkins with any resource we wanted to! The little ones had freedom of the arts and crafts cupboards to choose what they wanted to use to decorate their pumpkin.
November…
In November we had one of our favourite trip days yet! We headed to ‘Turtle Dove Play Cafe’ where we took the bus and then enjoyed exploring all of the toys in the play cafe! We would like to thank the lovely staff at Turtle Dove for being so welcoming and accommodating, we had a great time!
December…
In December, we of course enjoyed many Christmas themed activities! One of our favourite activities was where the little ones created their hand prints and then we made it into a wreath!
