JUNE 2024
Reminder - We are CLOSED on Monday 1st July for staff training day. Sorry for the inconvenience!
May Round up
This month we have been very busy with lots of new themes! Most of our Little Ones love dinosaurs and vehicles so we dedicated a week to each one! The children loved spinning the wheel and seeing which dinosaur it landed on. We practiced our gross motor skills by stomping like a stegosaurus!
We got new climbing frame and slide this month and have spent a lot of time climbing up and down. We have been practising our turn taking and sharing and everyone has done very well at waiting and supporting their friends!
We have also been practising our mark making skills and trying to write our letters. Well done to all those who have learnt a new skill this month!
What’s happening in June
We have lots of fun themes this month to promote wellbeing. We have focuses on safety, healthy eating, oral hygiene and sports week! If there is anything you would like to share with us in regards to these topics, please let one of the team know!
An insight in to RLO…
On the first Monday of every month we have staff training. This is led by a practitioner and is something they are interested in. For June’s training, Orla (our Room Leader) is running the session. She chose the topic of “how to be a reflective practitioner”. This is key, not only for us as practitioners but also, for your Little Ones to get the best experiences every time they come in to the playroom. Activities are chosen by the practitioner to develop and enhance your child’s play. We watch and observe what the children are learning and like playing with and then we adapt this to and give them more opportunities to learn and invite them to play with different “Themes” each week. We choose the themes by what is happening in the world, eg “Earth Week” but the areas of play are taken from the children’s interests and learning developments. At the end of each week, we have a round up meeting and discuss the activities of the week. We reflect on what the children engaged in, how we can adapt the areas for other age groups and stages of a child’s development. We then discuss the room set up for the following week and come up with ideas and activities for the planning.
Parent Feedback
Thank you to all the parents who gave us feedback in May. We are always looking for areas to improve on and apprecaite all the advice, comments and wishes! We have a staff training day on Monday 1st July and we will go over all the feedback and create an improvement plan from this. Please let us know if there is anything you wish for us to improve on.
